This is the dumbest SEO mistake being made by even the smartest marketers

Summary

  • I learned that smart marketers often make the mistake of chasing high-traffic keywords without considering their revenue potential.
  • A great way to find keywords that drive revenue, not just traffic, is by using a tool called UberSuggest.
  • With UberSuggest, I can input a keyword or a competitor's URL to see which keywords drive their traffic.
  • The tool also shows cost per click (CPC) next to the keywords, revealing how much others bid for them on Google.
  • If a keyword has a high CPC, it’s likely because it brings in revenue. After all, no one spends $50 a click without the potential for profit.
  • To maximize revenue, I should target keywords with high CPC, even if they don't bring as much traffic.

How To Take Action

I suggest starting by focusing on finding keywords that can boost your revenue, not just your website traffic. A low-cost and high-value method is using the UberSuggest tool. It allows you to input a keyword or a competitor’s website URL to uncover keywords that drive traffic for them.

Once you've accessed UberSuggest, look for keywords that have a high cost per click (CPC) value. This means businesses are willing to pay more per click because those keywords tend to generate more revenue.

Focus your SEO efforts on these high-CPC keywords as they are likely to be more profitable, even if they don't drive tons of traffic. This approach ensures that the visits you do get are more likely to convert into sales or desired actions.

Make a list of relevant high-CPC keywords and integrate them into your website content, product descriptions, and marketing materials. This strategic focus can enhance the quality of your website’s traffic and improve your revenue without spending a ton of money or time.

Stay updated by regularly checking back with UberSuggest to refine your keyword strategies and keep optimizing your efforts for continued success.
