Summary
Starting a YouTube channel can generate significant revenue even with a small subscriber count and low view counts, as demonstrated by David's channel earning over $100,000 in recurring revenue within a month.
Traditional client acquisition methods like networking events and referrals are often not dependable for consistent growth and can be time-consuming.
Shifting from a localized client acquisition strategy to a broader one using YouTube helped David grow his business significantly.
You don't need highly edited, viral videos to succeed; simple, value-driven content where you share your expertise can be effective.
Presenting complex information in a simple manner, as David did by comparing a USB drive to a water bucket, can help engage an audience.
Consistency is key; David's channel took off after about four months with nine videos, attracting inquiries without paid advertisements.
Potential clients who discover you through educational content on platforms like YouTube may prioritize recommendations over pricing, having already seen value in your videos.
Starting the content creation process can be simple. Prepare resources and outline your video, then record using basic tools. Editing can be minimal, focusing on concise and engaging content to maintain viewer retention.
Pay attention to which types of content resonate with your audience. David leveraged engagement metrics on his journey to create more focused content with better reach and effectiveness.
When a video performs better than others, create more content on that topic, similar to doubling down on a good hand in blackjack.
Overcoming fears related to technology, public speaking, and strategy can unlock the potential of YouTube as a platform to establish authority and attract ideal clients.
Personalized guidance, structured learning, and accountability can aid in starting and maintaining a successful YouTube channel. Embracing these approaches can help overcome apprehensions about content creation.

How To Take Action
I would suggest starting a YouTube channel to grow your business or personal brand. It doesn't have to be perfect or go viral. Create simple, honest videos sharing what you know and your experiences. This is a low-cost way to show your expertise to a wide audience beyond your local community.
A good way of doing this is by making videos easy to understand, just like David did by comparing tech things to everyday objects. Break down complex ideas into simple ones that everyone can understand. You don’t need fancy gear; a basic camera or even your phone will do! Try using simple editing tools to make your videos clear and engaging.
Being consistent is key. David’s channel took four months to start seeing results, but those results were incredible. Post regularly, even if it's just once a week. This keeps your audience engaged and looking forward to your next video.
When you notice a certain video topic gets more views or engagement, make more videos on that subject. It’s like playing a good hand in blackjack – if it works, go for it again!
If you're nervous about starting, remember you don’t have to be perfect. Just be yourself and share your knowledge. Public speaking can be tough, but with practice, it gets easier. Also, try to follow a structured outline and get feedback upfront to stay motivated and improve over time. Remember, the goal is to deliver value with each video!

david Jackson's brand new YouTube channel has already brought in over a hundred grand in recurring revenue in the past 30 days alone but how does a 4month-old channel with just over a 100 subscribers and an average of 200 views per video bring in that kind of money i sat down with David to see exactly how he's doing it and in this video you're going to discover David's secret to easy client generation without going viral the incredibly simple no fuss video format that takes no time at all and I even got him to spill on his blackjack strategy that he used to instantly double the number of leads he attracts david's been running his SEO agency Techie in Overland Park Kansas for about 10 years and it wasn't always easy so David what did getting clients look like for you before you got started on YouTube i got them the same as everyone else you know just going to networking events relying on referrals trying to reach out to old contacts that's really how a lot of agencies are word of mouth is just not reliable you could get three four five referrals in a single month and feel like wow this is going to continue and last forever and then suddenly the next 2 or 3 months you get maybe one or two so you can't scale or grow that way you can't bank on that so it sounds like you were kind of limited to your own local area and I can't imagine Overland Park is a huge market right we're not limited to just people here however that's all that we were really able to get because we had such a localized strategy and just going to networking events or going to people we knew it limited us to just that and it was also pretty difficult to spend the time doing that every week but it gets even worse because not only was David not getting the volume of business that he knew he and his team could handle but the ones he did get into consultations were only focused on one thing they want the price on that call when we would pitch that oh I've got to do that just to find out what you guys can do or oh that seems steep or or send me more information about that later so the close rate was very very low because just give me the price i just need to know so I could pull the trigger on this and honestly that's way too common a story i bet you know exactly what David is talking about there you know he knew if he wanted to hit his goals something had to change so what was your inspiration for turning to YouTube well can I say you because I have been watching you since the deep end days i would also just hear about the results of being on YouTube and I I'd been talking about it for so long i mean I had been talking about doing this for over a year and I just never pulled the trigger so he'd been thinking of doing YouTube for a long time but I was afraid that I didn't know what to talk about like I I thought okay what am I going to go and tell people how to build a website you know I'm going to sound like a lot of other people but then David remembered something from his days working at a big computer store that finally made it click in his head the majority of the clientele didn't really understand anything about technology there was a time where a gentleman walked in and he said "I need to take files from one computer and move them to another." And in my head I'm thinking "We'll just buy a USB drive." And he says "Well what's that?" So I said "Well it's like a water bucket you take water from one well move it to the other and dump it in he got it immediately and he said "Wow I'll take 18 of those." That's exactly what I'm doing with digital marketing it's a very seemingly complicated thing that I want to break down and be very straightforward and practical about and apply it to business learning all of that helped give me the confidence to say that this packaging here works for YouTube and it works for video so it was David's aha moment about how he'd approach his topics along with some inspiration from YouTuber Miles Beckler that finally made him press record for that first time every morning all he did was turn his webcam on and talk for 10 minutes about a marketing or affiliate topic but after 180 days I think he was generating like 200,000 hits or something to his website his videos weren't over the top they weren't crazy editing they were just him talking on camera it was more about the value of what he said and the value he was delivering i just thought if I just turn this camera on start talking about this go through it step by step what's the worst that can happen i put myself in a corner while I was on my screen just pointing and clicking and showing everything so yeah it was just me down in the bottom right uh just in my living room going through everything that we do for a client when we optimize their Google business profile and it was a 30inute video but little did David know at the time that that 30inut video would kickstart a whole new chapter in his business i can't wait to show you David's results in a minute but I just wanted to remind you that if you want to take advantage of YouTube for your business this is the week to join my signature program the YouTube Declines Academy like David did and take $100 off regular price so that deal ends tonight April 25th so just click the link in the description so you got a total of nine videos uploaded as of right now when did you first start getting people contacting you because they found you on YouTube it it was about a month ago it took about four months and then this last month it it's really really been consistent we're getting anywhere from two to four inquiries per week we're not paying for any ads we're not investing in any any sort of paid leads or anything like that this is all happening organically and it all started to pick up after this YouTube channel took off and in this past month how many clients have you gotten from YouTube uh it would be five that's amazing that it's taken off that fast for you so if you're comfortable sharing what's the average value of one of these new clients it's anywhere from $18,000 to about $30,000 per year because they pay us monthly you know we're talking over $100,000 from YouTube and just to be clear that's a h 100red grand of annually recurring revenue every year that accumulated in his first month of YouTube inquiries alone if you wanted to extrapolate that out across 12 months we're talking $1.2 million but it gets even better because most of his clients stick with him for multiple years meaning this year's 1.2 million will stack on top of next year's 1.2 million and so on and let's not forget he's getting that much with a tiny brand new channel it stands to reason that the more he keeps up with it those numbers are going to grow and snowball every year and I can imagine that your consult calls feel a little different now than the old days when it was you know just all about you know give me a price so how are those going now when people are coming through YouTube they're not asking about the price they're asking for recommendations they're asking for an opinion they're asking about direction i'm interested in learning more and I'm willing to pay for that because I've seen the value through your videos and we're getting so many more of that type of that type of customer that's how all of those five have been you know they all paid for that initial analysis and then they pulled the trigger after we showed them the road map they said "This makes perfect sense let's do it." And what about your videos do you think is making that difference it's the best way to connect with someone because you're getting across your your demeanor you're getting across your tone and a client just really brings down all of their walls all of those defenses because they see you right there and I think one of the strongest things that's helped us sell especially people that come through finding us on YouTube is what they're seeing in the video gets matched when they actually talk to me because people do have anxiety about purchasing something or engaging in a big sale especially in B2B but when you reduce that anxiety help create that expectation and then match the expectation when they talk to you that you set through the video that's a client for life and they're going to refer you a little later David's going to reveal his blackjack strategy I told you about before that doubled his leads overnight but even knowing that you can get results like this you might still be hesitant to try it because you've got you know a business to run the thing is though making YouTube videos doesn't have to be as hard as you think david's actually figured out a really easy way that works for him when I start I open up all of my tabs in advance so we're going to be looking at this tool we're going to be looking at this tool this tool and then I open up Loom put myself in the corner and I just start recording it's pretty loose i don't really have much of a script i do take bullet point notes for an outline sometimes but for the most part it's just me talking about uh what I know and what we do at our agency and I'm being very very candid and very straightforward about it i I have gotten into writing the intro though i I think that that's important to kind of hook someone and keep them watching but after that it's all just straightforward education this is exactly how you do this this is exactly what it means after that video is recorded I go through I edit it with Cap Cut i just cut it down and I don't like a lot of long pauses and I don't like a lot of ums and a's because I I think it just helps with the retention of the video but that's really it after I export it I upload it to YouTube how long does it take you to do a whole video now start to finish i would say my time to shoot and put a video out though has been reduced uh quite a bit if I shoot it Wednesday night I can have it up by Thursday and you're just making them to be found in search right yes they are search based i do try to be careful in how it's titled and what the description says you know YouTube SEO as they call it so now I want to talk about the big breakthrough that you had once you started getting you know a little bit of traction on one of your videos so what did you notice and how did you capitalize on it to get even better results we produced a video on Google LSA and I was paying attention to all of my past videos and about how many views they were getting in a day and on average it was you know maybe 10 to 20 views in a day but the LSA video had gotten about 50 in a day and I thought wow this one is moving quite a bit a few days later it was over a hundred and I thought okay this this is a topic that people care about it also had the most engagement as far as likes and comments so I thought well I'm going to do another LSA video because I have more to say on this particular topic i released the second LSA video and it followed the trend it got quite a bit more views and engagement than some of my other videos so LSA seemed to be something that people were interested in and I just capitalized on the engagement because I just paid attention it's like in blackjack when you've got a good hand you double down on it in this case that just means when you make a video that outperforms your others make another on that topic and as long as each one you do performs well you can keep going back to that topic over and over again your audience is obviously into it and it lets you really easily create binge sessions that way and let's be honest you've been thinking about YouTube for a while now haven't you you've watched other service providers
