Is being an Influencer really worth it?

Summary

  • Being an influencer can bring in money, but not always a lot. On average, influencers make about $323 a month.
  • Even influencers with over a million followers earn around $6,193 a month on average.
  • Building a personal brand like Neil Batel's is not the main income source; it brings in less than $10 million a year.
  • Kylie Cosmetics, backed by Kylie Jenner with 400 million Instagram fans, sold most of the company for $600 million.
  • Legion Athletics earns $30,000 to $40,000 monthly from its founder's brand, yet influencers earn them $400,000 to $500,000 monthly.
  • Growing an influencer following takes many years, so it might be easier and more scalable to use influencers for a business rather than being one.
  • To achieve success, it's wise to combine using influencers, being an influencer yourself, and building a strong corporate brand.

How To Take Action

I would suggest starting by building a strong corporate brand. This is your business's identity and can grow without needing millions of followers. You can do this by regularly sharing valuable content and engaging with your customers online. Think of what makes your business special and show that to the world.

A good way of doing this is by partnering with influencers. They already have the audience, so you don’t have to spend years growing one. Find influencers who fit your brand's style and values. Even small influencers can make a big impact if they reach the right people.

Another suggestion is to start becoming an influencer yourself, even in a small way. Share your journey, what you learn, and your business story. This helps build a personal connection with your audience. It's important to be yourself and let people see what happens behind the scenes in your business.

Remember, all these steps take time, but focusing on building relationships and trust can lead to success. Use social media tools to measure how well your efforts are working and adjust as needed. This helps you see what your audience likes and what brings in new customers.

Balancing personal influence with corporate branding and leveraging other influencers can boost your business in a sustainable way. Use this strategy to grow without spending lots of money or time trying to become a massive influencer yourself.
