The Right Words Can Save Your Business

Summary

  • I saw a video about a blind person with a sign saying “I’m blind and please help” but no one was giving money.
  • A girl came by and changed the sign to say, “It’s a beautiful day and I can’t see it.”
  • After the change, people started giving money.
  • This shows that words have a big impact.
  • Using positive words in marketing gets a better response than using negative words.
  • I’ve tested this a lot, and positivity always works better.

How To Take Action

Implementing Positive Language for Success

Small Business Owners

I would suggest implementing positive language in all your marketing materials. Take a look at your current ads, social media posts, and website. Are you using words that uplift and inspire? If not, switch them out for more positive messages. For example, instead of saying, “Don’t miss out on this sale!”, you could say, “Join us for exciting deals!”

Entrepreneurs

A good way of using positive words is in your pitching and networking. When you describe your business or idea, focus on the positive impact you are making. Instead of saying, “We solve the problem of unreliable service,” say, “We provide a consistently excellent experience.” This shifts the focus from negative to positive and resonates better with people.

Personal Growth Enthusiasts

To grow personally, try using positive affirmations daily. Write down things like, “Today is a beautiful day to achieve my goals,” and repeat them throughout the day. Changing how you speak to yourself can have a big impact on your mindset and overall happiness.

Low-Cost, High-Value Implementation

One easy, low-cost way is to rewrite your email templates. Instead of starting with a problem, begin with a positive note. For example, replace “We apologize for any inconvenience” with “We appreciate your patience and understanding.”

Another quick win is to look at the signs and instructions around your workplace or home. Are they directing behavior with negative words? Change them to positive ones. Instead of a sign that says, “Do not enter,” try “Thank you for entering through the main door.”

Words have power. By making these small changes, you can create a more positive atmosphere, whether it’s in your business dealings or your personal life. Positivity attracts positivity, and it’s a simple yet powerful strategy to improve outcomes without spending a lot of time or money.
